Course/program Philosophy

It’s helpful to articulate a teaching and learning approach or philosophy to help guide the design process. At the design stage you should be able to answer the following questions:

• Who is my audience and what do I expect they have (skills and knowledge) before they start the course?

• What will the scope of the course be?

• How do I expect students to work together?

• How should this course be taught?

• How will I assess my students to make sure they have successfully mastered the material?

The art of design is to match the learning to the audience, making use of tools and strategies to achieve that objective. There is no one right way to do this; common sense and experience are both extremely useful allies in the quest to create the perfect online course!
